Outlook introduced a tool to resolve internal issues that the email client faces.  So what are these internal issues?  Outlook has got a personal folder where it saves all its personal data. There are chances that the folder may get corrupt due to virus attacks, insufficient security measures and so on. That is where Outlook repair tool comes into the picture.  The Outlook repair tool is also called “Scanpst.exe” and is automatically installed on your

hard drive while installing Outlook. The Outlook repair tool works on all versions of Outlook.

Steps to run the Outlook repair tool

1)      Close Microsoft Outlook

2)      Open “Scanpst.exe” file (Located in Program f

iles\Microsoft Office\Office12)

3)      A new window titled  “Enter the name  of the file you want to scan” will open

4)      Enter the name of your PST File

5)      Click “Browse” to select it and click “Start.” (The scan will begin.)

6)      Click “Repair.”

7)      Open Outlook and log in with your profile.

8)      Select the “Go” menu. Click “Folder List.”

9)      Create a new PST file.

10)   On the “File” menu, click “New.”

11)   Select “Outlook Data File.”

12)   Click “Office Outlook Personal Folders File” if you are using Outlook 2003 or 2007.

13)   Enter a filename, and click “OK.”

14)   Drag the items from the “Lost and Found” folder to the new PST file.

 

The Outlook Repair Tool will only function if your PST file was damaged by Outlook itself or if it was corrupted due to hard disk problems. If, for example, your PST file is corrupted by a third party add-in, there is little chance for the Outlook Repair Tool to recover your mailbox information.

Tip: Always keep in mind that Microsoft Outlook should not be running when you try to execute the Outlook Repair Tool.

Stalling and Outlook repair

Do you ever get the feeling you need to slow down? To tell you the truth I never have, ever! Do you hate it when your computer decides to go absolutely blotto? I can’t stand that. It drives me up the wall. I hate it when my Outlook 2007 decides to stall on me while it’s shutting down. It just decides that it’s going to take its own sweet time. But then I discovered Outlook repair services provided by technical support providers. You should use Outlook repair too. When the search result comes up, they said, double click on it to run the “Inbox Repair Tool”. Then the Outlook repair guys remotely located a couple of corrupted files. They then asked me to enter the name of the file into the tool either manually or by using “Browse”. This started doing all kinds of diagnostics and what not. Eventually this repaired my damaged file which happened to be, so Outlook Repair tells me, a .pst file.

So if ever you computer or specifically Outlook acts crazy on you or drives you up a wall don’t be afraid to seek Outlook repair.
