Even though Outlook program is considered as one of the best email clients in the world, it is not free from troubles. One of the issues associated with the program is that it may freeze after you use it for long periods. The program may also freeze when its storage capacity is exceeded. In this situation, you may not be able to use the program and none of the tabs or options in it would work. In this post, we will find out how to close down the program and carry out an Outlook repair to fix the issues.
- Go to your desktop window and look for a small icon for Outlook in it. You can find this icon on the right end of the screen, along with other icons like LAN connection etc. Right click this icon and choose the option Close. You may receive a pop up. Select the option End now in it. The program may not close quickly and you may have to wait a bit.
- If the above step does not work, open your Task Manager window. For this, press the keys Ctrl, Alt, and Del together. This will bring up the window for Task Manager. Another option to bring up the Task Manager window is to right click the task bar and choose the option Task Manager. In the Task Manager window, select the tab Processes. In this tab, locate the process Microsoft Outlook and click it. Select the button End program and this will close the Outlook program in your computer.
- If both the above steps fail to help you close the program, restart your computer. If the restart feature does not function from the Start button, you may use the small restart button in your cabinet or keep pressing the power button for a few seconds to turn off your computer. As the computer turns off, all the programs presently running in it are also shut down. Once you turn on your back computer on, you can launch the Outlook program again.
- If your Outlook program freezes again even after trying all the above steps, you carry out a repair installation of the program. For this, run the file scanpst.exe in your computer and then locate the pst file of your Outlook program to scan and repair the issues associated with the program. Outlook repair can fix most of the issues with the program.
